Monica Ohlinger partnered with Patrice Lumumba Jones to found Enlight Media in 2019. These strategic thought leaders share a mission to effect meaningful change and infuse principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into their work. DEI in Context™, an online video-based program, arose from their belief that knowing better must compel us to do better.

After a decade in educational publishing, Monica Ohlinger established Ohlinger Publishing Services in 1995, which evolved into Ohlinger Studios by 2018. Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to education were shaped by her parents' influences--her father's restaurant business and her mother's career as a teacher and university bookstore manager.
As a woman-owned business leader, Monica is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). In 2021, Ohlinger Studios received Women-Owned Small Business certification from the U.S. Small Business Association. Under her leadership, Ohlinger Studios has implemented several DEI initiatives:
A permanent DEI Taskforce to guide our company-wide efforts.
Developing DEI in Context, a video-based online learning program exploring the historical foundation of systemic oppression. The first collection, Patterns in American Racism, launched in Spring 2024 and our second collection, American Patriarchy, will launch in early 2025.
Implementing a Purposeful Education training curriculum for our team to integrate DEI principles into daily operations.
Continuously refining our hiring process to minimize bias and promote diversity in our team and freelance pool.
We're committed to transparency in our DEI efforts and hold ourselves accountable for effecting positive change. This commitment extends to our work, where we strive to create inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive educational content that amplifies diverse voices and perspectives.

Patrice Jones started his journey in the world of higher education publishing with Prentice Hall Publishing in 1995. Fueled by a deep love for education, a knack for messaging, and a talent for forging emotional connections with customers, he ascended from sales rep to Marketing Manager to Director of Marketing, and ultimately to Vice President of Marketing at Pearson (after they acquired Prentice Hall in 1999).
In 2011, he embraced a new role at Pearson as VP Head of Creative for Higher Education. The Higher Ed Creative team he built transformed how Pearson developed and promoted customer-centric video content. By 2016, he had risen to VP Global Creative, collaborating with a new Global Communications and Marketing group.
The 2012 murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, was a turning point for Patrice. Recognizing his responsibility to advocate for change, he began blogging and speaking out against systemic racism in America. His extensive career in publishing led him to cofound Enlight Media in 2019, allowing him to continue creating video content that resonates emotionally with students and instructors, fostering enriching educational experiences and a lifelong love of learning.
Following the murder of George Floyd in 2020, Patrice dedicated himself to intertwining Enlight Media's mission with the drive for social justice. Today, he is immersed in writing, directing, and producing content that not only inspires a love of learning but also ignites a sense of purpose.
Patrice resides in Harlem, USA, with his partner Allison and their dog/roommate Huey (IG @hueyofharlem).
